The biological pool, located next to the Kosteljina stream and the D206 state road, has been designed as an ecological alternative to traditional pools, imitating the appearance of natural lakes. The pool system works on the natural principle of water purification by means of aquatic plants and gravel filters, without the use of chemicals, ensuring crystal-clear water. The surface area of the pool is 1,627 m², with a section for swimmers and non-swimmers and a special section for water regeneration.
The complex will also include a catering facility, saunas, a children's playground adapted for persons with disabilities, and a car park. This unique project in north-western Croatia will contribute to the development of the tourist offer, enriching the range of recreational facilities for the local population and visitors.
We expect that the biological pool, with its attractiveness and its integration into the landscape of Zagorje, will attract a larger number of visitors and enable the further tourist development of Pregrada. The planned capacity of the pool allows for up to 220 bathers, and the complex will be open for use all year round.
About Pregrada:
The Town of Pregrada is a unit of local self-government within Krapina-Zagorje County, covers an area of 67.47 km2, consists of 26 settlements with a total of 5927 inhabitants, and the population density is 87.85 inhabitants/km2.
The Town of Pregrada is located in the north-western part of Krapina-Zagorje County and borders the following municipalities: Hum na Sutli, Desinić, Tuhelj, Krapinske Toplice, Petrovsko and Đurmanec. The north-western part of the town's area is dominated by Kuna Gora and Desinička Gora, while the southern part of the town's area is intersected by stream valleys belonging to the basin of the Krapina river: Horvatska, Žbiljski potok, Sopotnica, Erpenjšćica, Kosteljina, Svedružica. The seat of the town is in the settlement of Pregrada, which is the only urbanised settlement, while all the other settlements are rural in character. The settlement of Pregrada is situated in the central part of the town of Pregrada. The other settlements are located partly along the main transport routes and partly scattered across the hilly terrain. The settlements on the hills show depopulation and a more elderly population, and the form of the settlement has been preserved as a traditional grouped set of buildings.
No main road routes or railway line pass through the town's area. Most of the land belongs to agricultural cadastral cultures and is an important resource base for possible further development in terms of intensifying agricultural production and the processing of agricultural products. The suitability for cultivating agricultural land is evident in the favourable relief position of the agricultural land in the stream valleys and on gentle slopes.
In terms of climate, the Sutla valley is the coldest area in the western part of Hrvatsko zagorje, and the difference in temperatures between the valleys and the hilltops reaches up to 15 °C. The average annual temperature is 11.5 °C. The warmest month of the year is July, with an average monthly temperature of 22.1 °C. The coldest month of the year is December, with an average temperature of 1.7 °C. The sum of annual precipitation is 1220 mm, and the average annual amount of precipitation is 852 mm. The month with the highest amount of precipitation for 1994 was June (166.9 mm), and the lowest was February (27.1 mm). The average number of days with snow per year is 26 days, and the maximum height of snow cover is 27 cm. Hail occurs mainly in summer, especially when temperatures are high.
