The city has a long tradition of health and family tourism – it has held the status of a climate health resort since the beginning of the 20th century, and Thalassotherapia Crikvenica remains one of the most recognizable institutions of its kind on the Adriatic. Rijeka is about thirty kilometers away, Rijeka Airport on the island of Krk is about fifty, and the A6 motorway to Zagreb is accessible via the Rijeka junction.
