About the town

Malinska, a resort town on the west coast of Krk

Malinska is the centre of Malinska-Dubašnica municipality on the west coast of the island of Krk, about fifteen minutes' drive from Rijeka Airport.

According to the 2021 census, Malinska-Dubašnica municipality has 3,212 residents spread across some twenty villages – from Malinska itself by the harbour to Vantačići, Porat, Sv. Vid-Miholjice, Bogovići, Žgombići and Milčetići. The harbour is sheltered from the bora and deep enough for ships, which is why Malinska was for centuries an important landing place on western Krk.

Malinska is linked to the mainland by road via the Krk Bridge: Rijeka Airport is about fifteen minutes away, Rijeka about 40 minutes and the town of Krk around twelve kilometres. In summer it is one of the liveliest resorts on the island, and Malinskarska noć (Malinska Night), held on 23 July, the feast of St Apollinaris, is the main event of the year.

The Malinska market is usually dominated by apartments – from smaller units for holiday letting to new builds with pools and penthouses with sea views, often a short walk from the sea – and by building land, sometimes with a permit or design for a villa with a pool. Houses with several apartments are also on offer. Prices depend on distance to the sea and the view, and the easiest way to compare is the search above.

Frequently asked

Good to know before buying

How much does property in Malinska cost?
Prices in Malinska depend on distance to the sea, the view and the build quality. Smaller apartments for letting sit in the more affordable range, while new builds with pools, penthouses and sea-view villas cost considerably more. Set your price range in the search above and compare current listings.
Which settlements belong to Malinska-Dubašnica municipality?
Besides Malinska itself, the municipality includes Vantačići, Porat, Sv. Vid-Miholjice, Bogovići, Žgombići, Milčetići, Radići, Sabljići, Turčić, Oštrobradić and around ten other villages, some by the sea and others inland. You can select a settlement directly in the search above.
Is Malinska a good place to buy a holiday rental apartment?
Malinska is one of the most visited places on Krk, close to the airport and the bridge, so smaller apartments and apartments with pools are in demand for holiday letting. Before buying, check whether the property can be categorised for holiday rental, and what the utility bills and building costs are.
Can foreigners buy property in Malinska?
EU citizens can generally buy property in Croatia on the same terms as Croatian citizens. Additional conditions and approvals may apply to non-EU citizens, depending on bilateral agreements. This is general information, not legal advice – we recommend checking with a Croatian notary or lawyer.
